Highway Superintendent

The Town of Weathersfield, Vermont is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Highway Superintendent.

This position is an exempt salaried position that is expected to work 40 hours per week. The normal workweek is Monday to Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, hours will vary depending upon weather conditions and the needs of the municipality. This position is likely to exceed 40 hours per week and may often include work on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Wintry weather conditions and certain projects will also require extra hours.

Under the direction of the Town Manager, this position is a working supervisor role that plans and manages all municipal highway and transfer station operations in order to advance the safe and effective functioning of both departments. This position requires experience with personnel management and reporting, all aspects of highway and bridge construction and maintenance, contractor oversight, equipment operation and maintenance, job safety, mechanical ability, record keeping, communication skills, planning, and budget development.

Pay will be based on qualifications and experience.

Finance Director

The Town of Weathersfield, Vermont is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Finance Director.

This position is an exempt salaried position that is expected to work 40 hours per week. The normal workweek is Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. However, hours will vary depending upon workloads and the needs of the municipality. This position will be expected to attend Selectboard and other meetings outside of normal work hours.

The Town of Weathersfield is a dynamic organization, in which all employees are encouraged and expected to adapt to our ever-changing environment. The Finance Director is expected to be a leader within our organization, as well as in our community. Work is performed under the general direction of the Town Manager. This position provides management and leadership guidance in directing the operations of the Finance Department; performs financial oversight and forecasting for the Town’s finances and serves as the financial policy advisor to the Town Manager and Selectboard.

The principal function of the Finance Director is to perform financial oversight, planning and administrative duties, with responsibility over the Town’s budget, accounting, auditing and related financial operations. Work is performed independently with extensive latitude to exercise independent judgment within the framework of existing policies, laws, ordinances, department procedures and guidance set forth by the Town Manager and Selectboard.
